Protective styles allows your hair to rest from daily styling. For a protective style to do its work, it must be maintained, and refreshed.

Even Victoria Secrets Angel models are embracing their natural look this year. the hairstylist for 2018 show’s, Anthony Turner, has revealed that the looks will be “more natural and, ultimately, individual”. In his interview with People, Turner says “We wanted it to feel very natural and very real. Instead we’re playing with each girl’s own hair texture and making them better versions of themselves.” The VS fashion show took place on November 8th but will air on TV on December 2nd.
I recently tried out box braids for a protective style. I did my box braids with a little twist. I used purple-pink ombre kanekalon hair instead of the standard black or brown. When I first shared this idea to friends and family, they voted against it. However, I didn’t let their negative comments stop me. I did box braids with ombre hair. It came out pretty well and I was satisfied. I would recommend anyone to try this. The ombre colors create a gorgeous look.

In my opinion, no protective style is necessarily better or worse than any other. There are easy protective styles and there are complex protective styles, but whatever you choose should protect your hair. There are many people with different opinions about what makes a protective style, a protective style. For example, “It doesn’t count if any of your ends are exposed,” “It’s not a protective style if it involves hair that’s not your own,” or “You don’t love your real hair if you use certain protective styles.” Protective styles can be done with or without weave and it’s for everyone. Whether you use extensions in your protective style or not is your choice. Whatever you choose to do should be unique to you. Never be afraid to try different styles that work for you.

When it comes to protective styles, my girl Keke Palmer is the Queen! Sis is always rocking different protective hairstyles. In her latest movie, Pimp, Keke plays a pimp that is struggling to escape the game. Keke chose to wear her hair faux locs for this role, and they are absolutely fire OK. Keke Palmer’s protective styles are always looking good no matter how long she’s had it. Here are 5 must have protective hairstyle products that you can use to keep your hair fresh and neat like Keke’s!
1. MOISTURIZE
The first thing to remember is to keep your hair moisturized! You won’t have to use moisturizers that often because your hair is in a protective style, but it still should be done. Use moisturizers and oils to prevent dry hair and breakage. I recommend using natural oils such as coconut oil and Jamaican black castor oil
2. Wash hair when needed
You should always try to keep your hair clean. Grease and product build up can happen whether your hair is in a protective style or not. You should wash your protective hairstyle at least once every 2 weeks. Washing protective hairstyles is a bit tricky To do this, I use Shea Moisture Jojoba Oil No-rinse Foam Cleanser. It washes the hair and leaves it clean and with a pleasant scent.
3. Apply sealing product to hair
Make sure to apply your favorite sealing product to the hairs at least once a week. I usually apply Eco style gel. It adds moisture, and controls the frizzing of braids.
4. Lay your edges
Lastly, keep your edges done for an instant refresher. Not only will it make your hair look fresher, but it will look like new again. For the perfect edges, I recommend using Creme of Nature Argan Oil Perfect Edges Extra Hold. It adds shine and really holds your edges.
Use the products mentioned to keep on slaying your protective styles for fall.

I'm a firm believer in protective styles. I only wear protective styles and being away from home makes it more demanding. I love my braids and my weave...wake up and go!
